At Serenity, our goal is simple: bring peace of mind to your EHS management. With Serenity 8.4, we’re taking another big step toward that promise by giving safety leaders and EHS professionals more control over configurability and smarter reporting while advancing Incident Management with new features like case management, return to work, and workers compensation.
Configurability for Everyone
Serenity works for your teams regardless of ServiceNow or IT expertise levels. Version 8.4 puts configurability directly in the hands of EHS managers and safety leaders.
Now, you can fine-tune categories, notifications, scoring options, and assignment rules right from within Serenity’s workspace without back-end help. This means a system that evolves with your safety programs while delivering faster updates and fewer delays.
Smarter and Actionable Analytics Out of the Box
With 8.4, Serenity expands its ready-to-use analytics so you can skip the manual report-building and jump straight to insights.
Our enhanced inspection dashboards and reports surface what matters most (i.e. open findings, overdue actions, trends by location or template, and performance by team), all aligned with what each role needs to see.
Inspections Made Easier (and Smarter)
Inspections are at the heart of safety programs, and 8.4 makes them more flexible and transparent than ever:
Inspection Template Dashboard: Monitor open inspections, inspection findings, and corrective/preventive actions to ensure effective completion. Review results from any timeframe, whether it’s this month, this quarter, or the entire year.
Weighted & Unweighted Scoring: You asked and we answered. In addition to weighted scoring (with a new automatic weight calculation and equalization feature), you can now choose how you measure, whether that’s detailed weighted scoring or quick unweighted reviews. These scores can be viewed side-by-side and are included in rollup reporting, allowing organizations to analyze results consistently.

New Response Types: Another common request from our customers was to add reference fields and Date/Time fields to our inspection response options, enabling better accuracy and traceability.

Dedicated Findings & Actions Tab: No more cramped side panels cluttering your view of important data. You can view and manage findings and CAPAs in a full-page workspace via a dedicated tab within the inspection task page. This way, you can quickly add new findings or actions directly from the tab, ensuring nothing is missed.
On-Demand PDF Reports: Generate or download inspection reports anytime, even if you haven’t completed an inspection or risk assessment. You can also download blank checklists for “paper-based” inspections if needed!
The result: less time clicking around, more time improving safety outcomes.
Stronger Foundations for Incident Management
A top priority for 8.4 was to strengthen Incident Management, making it smarter and more connected.
Injury & Illness Playbook: Follow a guided, step-by-step workflow that makes documentation simple and consistent. This is great for new users and those who prefer a structured experience.

Workers’ Compensation: Now, EHS teams can manage claims directly from injury records. Create and track workers’ comp cases, elect your insurer or TPA, and automatically generate and send First Reports of Injury (FROI).

Medical Clearances: Streamline your return-to-work process with easy medical documentation, recovery tracking, and clear outcome reporting (i.e. return to full duty, work with restrictions, or unable to return).

Witness Statements: Log external witness statements for non-employees without extra record creation. Add them directly from an incident or investigation record for fast, simple, and complete documentation.
Everything ties back to our goal of making it easier for users to capture, act on, and learn from every incident.
Now at the Job-Step Level: Smarter Risk Management
We’ve expanded risk assessments to help you see where risks actually occur, that is, at the job-step level.
Now, hazards can be tied directly to each step of a job or process (like a JHA) in risk templates, making assessments more granular and accurate. You can visualize which steps carry the most risk and proactively assign controls to reduce exposure before incidents happen.

Simplified Configuration in Workspace Settings
Admins and power users can now make configuration changes directly in Serenity Workspace without toggling between interfaces or calling IT. You can now configure:
Incident categories, injury types, and notifications
Investigation factors and assignment rules
Inspection response types and alerts
Risk criteria, hazard libraries, control inventories, and notifications
It’s all in one place and designed for EHS professionals, not developers.
